Mitt Romney...
I just finished a book called "A Mormon in the White House" about who Mitt R. is and can he actually be elected. (By Hugh Hewitt, loaned to me by Larry) Do you like Mitt Romney? Besides being LDS why do you like him? Do you think he has a chance to win the nomination? I think Mr. Hewitt's answers would be "yes, a lot, and absolutely." What are your's?

I loathe politics. Which leaves me woefully ignorant of much of anything political. But in going through Larry's Mitt Romney blog I found myself quite impressed. Now, thinking about M. Romney becoming president leaves me excited about a candidate for the first time. In the past, I've preferred candidates, but haven't been excited about any of them. Honestly, I can't separate from my impression the fact that he is LDS, so I don't know how much that influences me. But I do know there are many people who are LDS of whom I do not have the same positive impression.
He doesn't seem so 'political.' He seems to be innovative. He seems to be against so much of what I dislike about politics. He seems to be true: what you see is what you get.
That's about all I have, is an impression. No real solid understanding of him or the political scene.

I've never been excited about a candidate before either. But I can hardly wait for some real debates with only 2-3 candidates and see how Mitt does. I think he will really impress people.
Every time I hear Mitt, he is intelligent, quick, and savvy. Much like myself. He has my vote.
Before I say this I should mention that I don't follow politics too much. I like the thought of having a US President that is LDS but I don't think my vote will matter much in California. George Bush Sr. was the last Republican who took California's electoral vote. But, he was probably only elected because of the success of Ronald Reagan - who was from California. Also, I think the last thing Californians want is another religious zealot as President.
As I have posted previously on my blog, I like this guy.
I do have the concern, though, about Mitt's flip-flopping on particular issues. Especially abortion. Was his stance for Massachusetts to get the vote, and now trying to win the republican voters, is he switching for votes?
Does it all really matter? Until the Feds decide to eliminate the Electoral College, our "popular vote" will continue to serve without any real purpose except to say, "I voted......and got a sticker out of it."
Just being honest.
